FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions are welcome. Perfectly organized photos are not required.
Here are straightforward answers to the things families most often want to know before beginning.
Do I need to organize my photos first?
No. You can send your collection just as it is.
Boxes, albums, envelopes, and loose photographs are welcome. You do not need to count, sort, or know all of the dates before getting started.
What types of photos and materials can you digitize?
Save My Photos currently digitizes:
- Printed photographs
- Documents
- Polaroids
- Negatives
- Slides
Polaroids, negatives, and slides have an additional per image charge because they require additional handling and scanning.
Save My Photos does not currently digitize videotapes or other video formats.
Will I get my original photographs back?
Yes.
Your original photographs and materials are returned to you when your project is complete.
The purpose of digitizing your collection is to give you an organized digital version of your memories while still returning the original items to you.
How will my digital files be organized?
Your digital files are grouped into practical folders using the information available in your collection.
Depending on your photos, folders may be organized by:
- Date
- Decade
- Event
- Family member
- Vacation
- Holiday
- Wedding
- Theme
- Existing album or envelope groupings
Files are also batch-renamed so you are not left with thousands of generic filenames.
Exact dates and names are not required. When information is unavailable, the most practical organization system will be used for the collection.
How will I receive my digital photos?
Your completed organized digital files are delivered on a USB drive.
A Memory Frame or Memory Movie can also be added to your project if you would like another way to enjoy and share your photographs.
These are optional additions and do not replace your USB delivery.
How long will my project take?
Project timing depends on the size and condition of your collection and the amount of organization required.
A more specific estimated turnaround time will be discussed with you before your project begins.
Can I ship or drop off my collection?
Yes.
Projects can be sent by shipping or arranged through local drop-off.
Specific instructions will be provided before your project begins.
Shipping costs are paid by the customer.
How do I get started?
Start by telling me what you have.
You do not need an exact photo count or perfectly organized collection.
Use the Save Your Photos Now button or contact form to tell me approximately how many photographs, boxes, albums, negatives, slides, or other materials you would like help with.
From there, we can determine the best package and next steps for your collection.
